The demand of vets is on the rise. This is due huge livestock population in India. India sustains 15% of world animal population. Due to scope in this field many students are preferring veterinary science as their career option. Establishment of livestock business and marketing have further added to the existing scope in this field. Subjects taught are aimed to bring relief to animals from their sufferings and diseases.
In Punjab, there are a good number of veterinary colleges to impart undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral courses in veterinary science.
Eligibility and Course
Students who have passed 10 2 with Science can opt for Undergraduate Degree Programmes in veterinary sciences. Selection is based through entrabce level test conducted at both national and state levels. Candidates are selected on the basis of their marks in All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) conducted every year by Veterinary Council of India
in the month of May. Students have to clear Engineering, Agriculture, Medical Common Entrance Test ( EAMCET ) to get admission in Veterinary courses.
